Nether Hill
Farm, previously Nether Hill Strawberry Farm, is under new management.
Nether Hill
Farm is one of the oldest farms in South Australia. It was given as a
land grant to William Lillecrapp in the 1850s. Originally the property was
400 acres and the first crops grown here were apples and pears.
Between 1983 and
2006 strawberries were the main focus. Early in 2007 the property was sold
to its current owner. The property now hosts self contained accommodation (with a minimum of
2 nights stay) in the original section of the Nether Hill
homestead built in the 1850s. The farm is now in conversion to organic status and under the ‘Organic Point’ label, is producing strawberries, rhubarb, broccholi, cauliflowers, cabbages, leeks, lettuce mix and lettuces – these and other organic produce is available direct to the public from Netherhill’s Farm Shop/Café which is open on weekends 10am - 6pm. The strawberries are grown organically on a paddock adjacent to the farm and will attain “in conversion to organic status” in 2012. The strawberries produced here have exceptional flavour. The pergola, extensive lawn areas and fern
garden are available for functions and picnics by appointment.
